Understanding Licences
How does licensing work?
All courses have a built in licensing feature that determine the way in which the course can be used. When you purchase a course, it will have a default single license assigned to it. You then have the option of selecting the license option that suits you best.
What are the licensing options?
There are three licensing methods available:
Individual (per head) license (ATF Portal only)
This requires a ‘license’ to be purchased for each person you wish to train (one ‘license per head’). Each course keeps track of the number of per head licenses it has assigned to it. Each time a user takes and passes the test on a given course, the license count for that course is decremented. When all licenses have been used up the course cannot be run until additional licenses are added.
Annual License
Any course issued with an annual license can be used an unlimited number of times for the period of one year. When that period has expired the course cannot be run until the license has been renewed.
Open License
Any course issued with an open license can be used an unlimited number of times, indefinitely. The course will never ‘expire’.
How do I license a course?
ATF Portal
All available courses are listed in the "Administer courses" screen, together with the current licensing arrangement for each course. You can elect to convert the license to an annual or open licence, or add some more individual licences.
Updating licenses for a course is done via a license reference number. You should contact the Sales team, quoting this number together with the license option you wish to use. You will then be issued with an update code, which you type into Portal Manager. Your course is then updated and is ready for use.
ATF webPortal and iPortal
Licensing is taken care of automatically when you open a webPortal account.
What do the different licenses cost?
All courses are charged at the same rate, with the exception of the "Health & Safety Essentials" course, which has its own pricing structure. This is because this course is much larger than any of the others, taking approximately three times as long to complete.
